Works on Paper

Stemming from a lifetime of sketching and drawing, working on paper with a variety of media has continued to be a focus of my efforts. Aiming to be more than mere study, I intend to draft finished images, layered with mixed media such as print/ink, tempera, watercolor, and gouache.

Map & Drawing Series

Leveraging the texture and hints of color that maps printed with archival inks on watercolor paper gave me as a starting point, I sought to explore the visual push and pull of the maps with images of the place in graphite and gouache.

Exploring the depth and richness available by mixing charcoal and ink to create images, there is a level of detail available that contrasts against the looser mark making and washes to show the beauty of the Pacific Northwest’s raw landscapes.
